Memories of Last 6 months Journey Jan-June2010.

Memories of Last 6 months Journey Jan-June2010. This 6 months journey has few memorable reminiscences. Urban Design 2 sem- Research Methodology (Me handling 1st time) gave me quite a Joy and Pleasure, because, I had to prepare before going inside the class.. This gave additional learning opportunities as well as confidence for the future. Their individual Presentations were quite good, though wanting some more in terms of analytical inputs. Special Mention-Nilufer, Even though joined a month late, has done quite well to make up and Catch on. On the whole I suppose there has been created an environment of motivation and urge to excel. The Stress shall be more on Application rather than theoretical knowledge alone. My Best wishes to All the 8******** Stars (10-2). 4th sem BCM- As usual, It is fun handling fresh and young minds. Though their responses during the course were not very encouraging, their Portfolios show that they have fairly understood the topics and to Majority of them, My...

COURSE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS IN ONLINE LEARNING

THE COURSE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS IN ONLINE LEARNING The purpose, goals, aims, vision and mission of eLearning need to be elaborated and are to be spelt out in the beginning. Next, this vision must be shared with all those concerned and those who are likely to be benefited (Shared Vision). Then the Strategy to achieve the set targets is to be planned. To work on the strategies, Structure (Facilities and people) is required. The suitable staff is to be assigned for different tasks. If the staff does not have the necessary skills, the same must be acquired. The style and system of operation should then be detailed out (This is also known as McKinsey’s 7S framework). The beauty of this open learning system is that “KNOWLEDGE IS FREE FOR ALL”. Hence there is no issue of Copyright. Knowledge is the best Gift that a human can give another being, be it in the form of example, citation, direct or indirect links, suggestions, advice, feedback etc. Each individual has his/ her own pace and style of...

Design methodology-Teaching and evaluation methods------------April`90. “ A TEACHER CAN NEVER TRULYTEACH, UNLESS HE IS STILL LEARNING HIMSELF. A LAMP CAN NEVER LIGHT ANOTHER LAMP, UNLESS IT CONTINUES TO BURN ITS OWN FLAME”. --TAGORE. Owing to the abstract and varied definitions of architecture, the society in general is prone to undermine architects and architectural education in relation to human welfare. While this lack of appreciation coming from an inability to attain a proper perspective is readily understandable; few individuals have opportunity to observe architect’s multifarious responsibilities in his varied functions and full imprint of architecture on the daily life of people every where. Learning and education has its roots from the primitive man, whose noble intentions of letting others know of his experiences, through the art of cave drawing, painting, or engraving images of animals, depiction of birds in motion and of the hunt, the decoration of weapons tools and utensil...

Haiti EQ Reminds

EARTH QUAKE I wish I were a fish; I could swim in water, I wish I were a bird; I could fly in sky, I wish I were an earthworm merrying underground. I was out there, one with the nature enjoying the bliss, Then came Sun, wind, rain and birds and animals, Along with the need, greed and fear; The process created my space, I enclosed myself, Slowly shearing myself away from nature And I wished I could live in the nest on a tree and enjoy the freedom again; I realized that the space I had created and enclosed had Ritually fossilated into a structure and then the earth shook, Wind blew, water flooded, fire spread and space merged; I think I am human and not a worm or bird or fish Now, I worry about my safety and Sun and Wind and Rain And Fire and Quakes and Plates and Tectons and what not? I wish I were a fish; I could swim in water, I wish I were a bird; I could fly in sky, I wish I were an earthworm merrying underground. K.R.Ganesh- 25-05-2001.
